This site is an extension of the book Integrated Pharmacology, Combining Modern Pharmacology with Chinese Medicine by me, Dr. Greg Sperber. The goal is to create a clinically relevant website for acupuncturists and Chinese herbalists as well as anyone interested in the interface between pharmacology and complementary and alternative medicine.
The site will be posting errata, changes, and upcoming additions to the book. I am also dedicated to posting breaking news in both the herb and pharmaceutical industries.
Who is Dr. Greg Sperber?
Dr. Greg Sperber received a bachelor of science in molecular biology from the University of California, San Diego before getting a master of traditional Oriental medicine from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine, San Diego in 1997. He worked as a business and computer consultant to several small businesses while getting his master of business administration with an emphasis in healthcare administration from National University. He moved to Australia in order to attend medical school at Flinders University of South Australia earning a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (BMBS, the British equivalent to an MD) in 2002. In addition, while attending medical school, he established an acupuncture and herbal practice and taught TCM, becoming the department chair of traditional Chinese medicine at the Adelaide Training College of Complementary Medicine. Currently he is an instructor and clinical supervisor at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine, San Diego and a practitioner at New Life Health Partners. He is president of the California State Oriental Medical Association and author of Integrative Pharmacology, Combining Modern Pharmacology with Chinese Medicine written with Bob Flaws. Dr. Sperber finished his second doctorate, the DAOM at Pacific College.
